Volkswagen Canada has introduced the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition, a limited-run model that is set to thrill automotive enthusiasts across the country. With only around 500 units on offer, this special edition celebrates two decades of high-performance all-wheel-drive Golf vehicles, tracing its lineage back to the iconic Golf R32 released in Europe in 2002.
Underneath its sleek exterior, the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition boasts Volkswagen's advanced MQB chassis and is powered by the turbocharged 315-horsepower EA888 evo4 TSI engine. What sets this edition apart is the availability of a 6-speed manual transmission, which is unique to the North American market, alongside the option of a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The exterior design of the 20th Anniversary Edition subtly amplifies the Golf R's sporting prowess. Gloss black 19-inch wheels catch the eye, complemented by 235/35 summer performance tires. Additionally, a panoramic power sunroof comes standard, enhancing the overall driving experience. The Lapiz Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, and Pure White colour options, each with their own distinct details, provide customers with a range of choices.
Inside the cabin, the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition showcases its performance pedigree with genuine carbon fibre decor inserts adorning the dash panel and front door trims. This marks the first time such exquisite racing-inspired touches have been featured in a production Volkswagen vehicle. As a finishing touch, the key fob proudly displays the "R" logo in a striking blue hue.
Enthusiasts eager to own this limited edition can now visit their local Volkswagen dealerships, with the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition carrying a starting MSRP of $50,995 for the manual transmission model and $52,395 for the 7-speed DSG variant.
