Volkswagen is going full steam ahead on its electrification strategy, and unveiled yesterday a brand-new electric vehicle that is set to arrive on the market in 2023. The all-new Volkswagen ID. Buzz isn't just a new EV, however, it is one of the most spectacular models introduced in recent memory and it already has enthusiasts buzzing.
The all-new 2023 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is essentially an electric version of the EuroVan or Microbus. The latter is one of the most iconic Volkswagen models of all time in this latest generation should bring back a ton of memories for anyone who lived through the 60s and 70s. That said, 2023 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a very modern iteration of that legendary model. The new Volkswagen ID. Buzz is fully electric and although we don't have all of the details yet, we can extrapolate a lot of information when it comes to range, battery capacity, and performance.
We know that the Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be built on Volkswagen's MEB platform which underpins all of its electrified vehicles including the new 2023 Volkswagen ID.4. Horsepower is expected to be rated at 201 while torque should reach 229 pound-feet.
The battery will be an 82-kWh unit of which 77 kWh will be available. This should translate into over 500 km of all electric range in the most efficient versions of the new ID. Buzz.
In terms of interior space, 2023 Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be offered in five seat and seven seat configurations although the Canadian market will get only the long wheelbase version. There will be two rows at launch with a massive cargo area while a three-row version will also come to the North American market. This model will also offer over 1,100 litres of total cargo space.
