The 2026 Volkswagen Jetta offers three clearly defined trims — Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline — each built around a different set of priorities. Every version shares the same 1.5 TSI turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The question isn't whether the Jetta is the right car. The question is which version of it fits your life.
Knowing what each trim adds — and what it doesn't — makes the decision straightforward. This guide walks through the three main configurations, what they're best suited for, and how the optional Sport Package on the Comfortline changes the picture for drivers who want more without moving all the way to the top trim.
The Trendline is the entry point, but it doesn't feel stripped down. It arrives with LED headlights and taillights, 16-inch Kiwano alloy wheels, dual-zone electronic climate control, heated front seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless App-Connect for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A rearview camera, USB-C fast-charging ports, and Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit instrument cluster are all standard.
Safety coverage at this trim is solid: Front Assist automatic emergency braking, Side Assist active blind spot monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert, and Hill Hold Assist are all included. The driver's seat is a 6-way manually adjustable unit with cloth seating surfaces. For drivers who want a well-equipped, efficient sedan without paying for features they won't use, the Trendline covers the essentials cleanly.
The Comfortline steps up in several areas that matter during daily driving. Seating shifts from cloth to leatherette, the driver's seat adds power adjustment and a 2-way lumbar support, and the audio system upgrades to 6 speakers plus a subwoofer. KESSY keyless entry with push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, remote start, SiriusXM satellite radio, and wireless charging for compatible devices are all added at this trim.
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go also becomes standard on the Comfortline, along with Travel Assist — which uses Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist together to support semi-automated highway driving. Light Assist for automatic high-beam control rounds out the safety additions. The 17-inch Madrid alloy wheels replace the 16-inch Kiwanos, and a compact spare tire is added.
The Sport Package is a meaningful upgrade within the Comfortline tier. It adds a Rail 2 Rail power sunroof, 18-inch Phantom black alloy wheels with all-season tires, a front illuminated light line, black window surrounds, and black exterior mirror housings. Inside, it brings the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro with full configurability, interior ambient lighting with up to 10 selectable colours, brushed stainless steel pedals, Driving Profile Selection, and an Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) for sharper cornering. Heated wiper park is included as well.
For drivers who want the Sport Package's visual and performance upgrades without the Highline's full feature set, it's a strong middle ground.
The Highline is the top standard trim and adds the features that make the longest drives noticeably better. Seating upgrades to perforated leather in Grigio/Titan Black or Sevilla Brown/Titan Black. The driver's seat adds a memory function, and ventilated front seats are standard — a standout feature at this price point. Heated outer rear seats are also included.
The 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro and satellite navigation are standard, as is Driving Profile Selection, the Electronic Differential Lock (XDS), power-adjustable mirrors with memory, and the 10-colour ambient lighting system. The exterior gains a Rail 2 Rail power sunroof, a front illuminated light line, heated wiper park, and 18-inch Phantom silver alloy wheels. Chrome window surrounds from the Trendline give way to a more polished presentation throughout.

The Trendline is the practical choice for drivers who want a solid, feature-rich sedan without paying for extras they don't need. The Comfortline adds daily comfort upgrades that most drivers will notice on every trip — particularly the power seat, improved audio, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Travel Assist. The Sport Package on the Comfortline is the performance-leaning option within this tier, adding the sunroof, 18-inch wheels, XDS, and the full 10.25-inch digital display.
The Highline is built for drivers who want every feature the Jetta offers in one package — ventilated leather seats, navigation, memory mirrors, and heated rear seats. If those features matter to you, the Highline earns its position at the top of the lineup.
