The Volkswagen ID.Aero concept introduced back in June wasn't just a stunning prototype, it previews a new electric vehicle from Volkswagen. Here's what we know about this new electric sedan and what we can expect from VW's future electric vehicle lineup.
It has a lot of range
One of the most impressive features of the ID.Aero is its aerodynamic profile. With a drag coefficient of just 0.23, the ID.Aero reduces wind noise and improves electric efficiency.
The ID.Aero concept is no exception to Volkswagen's promise that its upcoming electric vehicles will have more range. This luxury electric sedan could be one of the most generous in terms of range and driving capability, with VW saying the ID.Aero could offer over 500 km of all-electric range. Moreover, the battery would have a capacity of 77.0 kWh and would be capable of quick charging.
It will offer AWD
An electric Volkswagen sedan based on the ID.Aero concept would likely combine comfort with performance. Based on the Volkswagen MEB platform, the ID.Aero offers a perfect balance of luxury and athleticism, like all VW electric vehicles. Moreover, to ensure traction and stability in difficult Canadian winters, the MEB platform allows for the addition of an AWD system.
It would be like a new VW Passat electric
The Volkswagen Passat was one of the most impressive vehicles ever offered by VW in Canada and it was very popular. It offered an impressive level of comfort, luxury, and driving pleasure. We believe the ID.Aero concept previews a modern, electric take on the VW Passat with the same characteristics. If that's the case, VW should have no problem selling the ID.Aero to Canadian consumers, just like it has had a lot of success with the new VW ID.4 fully electric SUV.
