The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is the newest iteration of the first and most famous of the hot hatches. Here are three things to know about it.
Better performance
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI comes with a performance enhancement over the previous model that makes it more fun to drive than ever with its sharp handling and dynamic driving characteristics. The turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine now develops 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, an improvement of 13 horsepower and 15 lb-ft. This engine can be paired with your choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The suspension was also reworked and it features stiffer springs and adjustable dampers in order to take corners with even more aplomb.
More Technology
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is equipped with more standard and available features than ever before, despite a lower base price which makes it more accessible. New for this year is Volkswagen’s digital cockpit that allows you to customise the instrument cluster display to show you all of the information you want to know at any given time. The center screen is also new and it now incorporated most of the car’s functions, which allows for an uncluttered look and less switches. The selectable drive modes are also part of this new infotainment system and they make it possible for you to tailor the driving experience to your personal tastes and to the current driving situation.
Increased practicality
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is more practical than the outgoing model due in part to its slightly larger dimensions, but also because of better packaging. For instance, the front headroom was increased by more than 10 mm and the cargo volume increased by 71 liters with the rear seat up and 275 liters with the rear seat folded, which enables you to carry everything you need and makes the Golf GTI an even more practical every day car.
