The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is the latest version of the most popular sporty hatchback ever made and it is more fun to drive and more practical than ever.
An engaging driving experience
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI continues the tradition its predecessors have long established by being one of the most fun to drive cars on the market. For the eight generation of its hot hatch, Volkswagen revised the chassis and the suspension of the GTI to make it more responsive and more engaging to drive on twisty roads. The rear springs have been firmed up by 15% compared to the previous model and the available adaptive damping system has been added. This system uses sensors to detect the road conditions and the driver’s intentions in order to adjust the damping force at each wheel 200 times each second. Doing so provides a smooth ride over harsh bumps and a dynamic response when driving spiritedly and negotiating tight curves. The 2022 GTI also benefits from more power than the previous versions thanks to a modernised version of the 2.0L turbocharged engine which now delivers 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
A practical side
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is not only a fun to drive sports car, it is also a practical hatchback that can take everything you need to transport. The 8th generation of the Golf is larger than its predecessors and this shows in its cargo carrying capacity. Indeed, the new GTI has a 564-liter cargo capacity when the rear seat is up, which is more than any other Golf before. If you need even more space, the rear seat folds in two parts in order to create a maximum cargo space of 977 liters. This makes the Golf GTI a perfect choice if you enjoy driving but you need to carry around your family and its belongings.
