As all Canadians have in recent weeks, you have probably noticed that the temperature outside is getting warmer and spring appears to be just around the corner. When it is colder than that, your summer tires will harden which will increase stopping distances and decrease stability. Driving on summer tires in cold weather will also accelerate the wear and tear of your summer tires.
You also have to consider the very real possibility that we will get a snowstorm sometime in late March or early April. According to the Weather Network, most regions in Canada get a snowstorm in April once every three years.
If you do not want to get caught with summer tires in a winter storm, and if you want to prevent driving with summer tires in cold temperatures, we recommend that you install your summer tires in the first or second week of April.
