When it is colder than that, your summer tires will harden which will increase stopping distances and decrease stability. Driving on summer tires in cold weather will also accelerate the wear and tear of your summer tires.
You also have to consider the very real possibility that we will get a snowstorm sometime in late March or early April. According to the Weather Network, most regions in Canada get a snowstorm in April once every three years.
