Volkswagen vehicles are full of advanced safety features that make them some of the safest options in their categories. Here are some of those features.
The Lane Assist
Lane Assist is a technology that monitors the road markings in order to determine the vehicle’s placement on the pavement and alert the driver when it is about to exit its lane. This contributes to preventing many types of accidents such as frontal crashes or instances where the vehicle exits the paved road. Most of these accidents are caused by inattentive drivers or confusing road markings, which is why this system is so effective in preventing accidents. Lane Assist is deactivated when a turn signal is engaged in order to let the driver complete the maneuver without being alerted by a false alarm.
The Park Assist
Some Volkswagen vehicles can be equipped with the Park Assist feature. This system takes care of the parking duties in both parallel and perpendicular parking in order to remove some complexity from parking jobs. By using cameras and sensors, Park Assist can steer the vehicle into the parking spot easily and without the risk of damaging the vehicle or causing injuries to anyone. Once this function is activated, the vehicle is scanning for spaces that are large enough to fit your particular Volkswagen model. When a spot has been selected, the driver only needs to shift the transmission into the correct gear and control the speed of the maneuver.
The 4MOTION all-wheel drive
Another safety feature that is popular among Canadian buyers is the 4MOTION all-wheel drive. This addition to the power train gives the vehicle a better grip on the pavement, which is beneficial for safety and for capacities, especially during winter. This AWD system is capable of varying the amount of power it sends to each wheel in order to better match different road conditions. This is most important on snow or ice when an effective distribution of power can make the difference between getting stuck or continuing on your way.
