The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is available with a large number of advanced safety technologies that improve its ability to keep everyone on board safe.
The Travel Assist
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas features the available Travel Assist system which combines a number of technologies such as the adaptive cruise control and the lane-keeping assist in order to help you keep your vehicle in its lane and to follow other vehicles at a safe distance at all times. This can also make you more attentive and alert since the system takes away much of the strain caused by long drives in heavy traffic by controlling the vehicle almost on its own, provided you always keep your hands on the steering wheel.
The Front Assist
In order to avoid frontal collisions, all versions of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas come standard with the Front Assist system. This technology uses a radar to detect obstacles on the vehicle’s path and is then alerts you when it determines a collision with another vehicle, a solid object or even a pedestrian is imminent. If you are not able to react in time, the system can also apply the brakes on its own to bring the Atlas to a complete stop very quickly in order to avoid the impact or to reduce its force, which decreases the likelihood of injuries to everyone involved.
The 4Motion AWD system
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is equipped with the competent 4Motion all-wheel-drive system in every trim level, which improves its safety in inclement weather. By keeping track of every wheel’s speed at all times, this system is capable of reacting to changes in tire adherence in a fraction of a second. In order to save fuel, the default mode of the 4Motion system is to send power only to the front wheels, but as soon as the surface gets slippery, up to 50% of the engine’s power can be transferred to the rear axle, which gives the Atlas more stability.
