The Volkswagen Atlas enters 2024 with a major redesign that boasts not only a significant interior upgrade, but also the introduction of a new powertrain and enhanced standard features. The complete Atlas family is now powered by a standard 2.0-litre turbo engine that replaces the previous four-cylinder and VR6 options. This new powertrain brings an improved performance and fuel economy with 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Also standard is Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission across all trims.
The Atlas lineup, renowned for its seven-seater spaciousness, is set to be enhanced by four trim levels, including the new rugged Peak Edition. The interior upgrades for 2024 are extensive, featuring premium materials such as a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console, along with the integration of ambient lighting with 30 colour choices. Comfort features like a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats and three-zone Climatronic automatic climate control are now standard across the range.
The base model, Atlas Comfortline, comes at an MSRP of $49,995, offering 18-inch machined aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System, and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display among its standard features. Moreover, all trims now include the IQ.DRIVE package, rounding out a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies.
A step up is the new Atlas Peak Edition, starting at $53,995, boasting unique interior and exterior features, including 18-inch black alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, and Peak Edition badging, among others. The only available optional extra for this trim is a panoramic sunroof, at $1,500.
The Atlas Highline begins at $56,995, featuring 20-inch machined alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather seat trim, and a Harman Kardon Premium Audio System as part of its standard provisions. Options include a 20” black wheel package and 2nd row Captain’s Chairs.
The top of the range is the Atlas Execline R-Line model, which begins at $59,995 and includes standard features like 21” machined-finish alloy wheels, the R-Line design package, power-folding exterior mirrors, and a Head-Up Display (HUD). This model also offers 2nd row Captain’s Chairs as an optional extra for $700.
The revamped 2024 Atlas lineup is expected to be available at Canadian dealers in Q3 of 2023. The Atlas family redesign encapsulates the spirit of Volkswagen's promise to provide high-end comfort, state-of-the-art driver assistance features, and premium materials in a sleek design.
