Here, we answer a few questions about how the 2022 Tiguan compares to the 2022 Subaru Forester.
2022 Volkswagen Tiguan delivers better power and response
The Tiguan does not have an ordinary engine. Owners enjoy the benefits of efficient turbo power in the form of a 2.0L four-cylinder that outputs a solid 184 horsepower and a spirited 221 lb-ft of torque. With standard AWD, the Tiguan has plenty to distribute.
The Forester presents just adequate power with a non-turbo 2.5L that comes close at 182 horsepower, but torque falls all the way down to 176 lb-ft. This greatly reduces torque distributed to each wheel. This places the Tiguan at a performance advantage on Canada's roads.
The Tiguan also includes an eight-speed automatic transmission that features smooth shifting and efficient operation. The Forester has a standard CVT, which can be a lot less interactive and effective.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan adds flexibility and adaptability
The Forester claims versatility, but it's not for everyone. The Tiguan's family focus adds an available third row that seats up to seven passengers. A third row option is not available in the Forester. You will also look much better in the Tiguan while transporting a full load in style, versus the top-heavy, rugged profile of the Forester.
With the changing seasons, the Tiguan adapts to many road conditions with its Driving Profile Selection with Eco driving mode. There are four general modes to choose from, including: Onroad, Snow, Offroad, and Custom Offroad. These modes also include submodes. For example, within the Onroad setting, you can select: Normal, Sport, Comfort, and Individual. These functions are just the beginning in the DPS feature.
The Forester is more limited in terms of drive modes. Overall, the Tiguan offers more automatic and customizable driving modes than the Forester.
