Volkswagen is introducing the all-new 2022 Taos this year, a new compact crossover that buyers will love. It features the best of German engineering in a nimble, stylish, spacious and very efficient vehicle. Moreover, it features more technologies and more safety technologies than its rivals, putting it at the forefront of the segment and helping you transport your family safer.
Here, we compare the 2022 Volkswagen Taos with the 2021 Mazda CX-5.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taos provides better efficiency
Efficiency is important in any crossover, and the all-new Taos takes this critical point very seriously. It includes a newly designed 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This supplies similar torque than the CX-5’s base engine, making the Taos fun to drive and able to provide great accelerations in the city and on the highway.
But drivers will be able to take advantage of this torque while consuming much less gas. For example, FWD Taos models will have a consumption rating around 8.4 L/100 km in the city and 6.5 L/100 km on the highway, while AWD models consume 9.4 L/100 km in the city with 7.4 L/100 km on the highway.
The CX-5 uses older technologies and less efficient engines. With its 2.5-litre naturally aspirated and 2.5-litre turbo engines, the Mazda CX-5 has higher fuel consumption ratings. 2.5-litre FWD CX-5 models rate at 9.7/7.8 (city/highway) and 10.2/8.2 for AWD. The 2.5-litre turbocharged engine goes ever higher, with ratings of 10.8/8.7. The Taos features an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission, while the CX-5 uses an older 6-Speed unit.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is spacious and technological
Inside, drivers will be able to take advantage of the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, which includes customizable displays that make your driving experience even more personalized.
The CX-5 looks like a larger crossover, but the Taos has more cargo volume. Overall, owners can enjoy 1,877 litres behind the front seats, while the CX-5 is limited to 1,687 litres.
The Taos comes with plenty of safety such as Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Braking (Front Assist), Park Distance Control, Active Blind Spot Monitor and many more features that make it a true family transporter.
Finally, the Taos is more affordable than the CX-5. With a starting price of $26,695, it is less expensive than the CX-5, which starts at $28,600. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
