The 2022 Volkswagen Taos delivers power and efficiency
Under the hood of the 2022 Volkswagen Taos, you will find a newly designed 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The torque output is really impressive and will enable great accelerations. This engine has more torque than most Sportage grades, which makes it more fun to drive.
Even with all that torque, the 2022 Volkswagen Taos remains very efficient. For example, FWD models will have a consumption rating around 8.4 L/100 km in the city and 6.5 L/100 km on the highway. Those who choose an AWD Taos will only use 9.4 L/100 km in the city and 7.4 L/100 km on the highway.
The Sportage is much less efficient. It uses a more traditional 2.4-litre four cylinder naturally aspirated and a 2.0-litre turbo engine. The 2.4-litre FWD Sportage models rate at 10.1 L/100 km in the city and 7.6/100 km on the highway, while the AWD Sportage equipped with the same engine use 10.8/9.1 in similar conditions.
When you need space to travel with the family, the Taos is the way to go. If you fold the second-row seats, you can enjoy 1,877 litres of total cargo volume.
